E.F. “Buck” HowardPresident
Buck has been a Birmingham businessman for 35 years. Starting with Sales Consultants in 1975, Buck spent 15 years in the recruiting business moving on to partner in Management Recruiters in Birmingham. In 1990 Buck made the move to Molten, Allen & Williams where he built a substantial national clientele offering excess medical products gaining extensive insight and experience in the managed care arena. In 2005 Buck founded Catastrophic Medical Excess where he continues to offer his considerable expertise in excess medical risk management. In 2006 Buck began offering a new product that he found to be a very effective means in improving health: the employer based primary care clinic. Since then, he has worked with many self-insured clients across the region to evaluate their needs and implement clinics where appropriate. Buck earned a B.S. in business from Auburn University on a full athletic scholarship. In addition to football, Buck also participated in ROTC and served in Vietnam as 1st Lt. Buck is very in active in his church organizing mission trips to regional areas of need and abroad.
Michael HowardExecutive Vice President
Michael develops new client relationships and provides analytical support for existing clients. He also manages the IT, financial, and general operational needs for the company. Michael earned a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in Communications from Auburn University in 1998. He began his career in computer training, teaching technology from the beginning user all the way up to senior IT professionals. During that time he earned MCT, MCSE, A+, Network+, and MOUS certifications. Michael joined CME as Account Executive in 2008. He completed an MBA in Finance at University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business in 2014. During the program he served as the Fixed Income Portfolio Manager for the UAB Green and Gold Fund and was selected as the commencement speaker for the UAB Graduate School.
Chris OldenbergVP of Sales
Chris joins CME after a successful 13 year career with the YMCA. While there Chris worked with YMCA Camp Cosby, YMCA Hargis Retreat and served as the executive director for the YMCA Youth Center. He brings to CME extensive marketing experience from his time marketing programs at the YMCA and marketing his own business which helped corporations build teamwork among their employees. Chris and his wife Jennifer have two children, Gray and Helen Catherine. He enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his children in their sporting events. The Oldenburg’s are active members of Asbury United Methodist Church and live in the Chelsea community.
